Alex Witkowicz is a photographer and documentary filmmaker living in Denver, Colorado, and recently accepted a position as Multi-Media Editor at SKI and SKIING Magazines in Boulder, Co.
My career began while pursuing a B.A. in Economics at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, NH. Photography had been nothing more than a hobby until early 2007, when energy in New Hampshire began to build for the fabled first-in-the-nation NH Primary. My campus, at the heart of it all, was transformed into a political hot spot, with candidate rallies, debates, and protests taking place on a weekly basis. With camera in hand, I began documenting the political frenzy, and haven’t put down my camera since.
My work from the primary season landed me an internship with the Telegram & Gazette in my hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts in 2007. After graduating in May 2008, I continued daily freelance work for the Telegram until moving to Denver, Colorado in May 2009.
In April 2010 I attended the nine day Platypus Workshop in Las Vegas, NV; a workshop designed as a video documentary boot-camp for still photographers. As a result of this workshop, I am beginning to focus on producing documentary films. In August 2010 my first fully produced TV documentary aired on CET (Comcast Entertainment Television) in Colorado, a documentary that profiles the lives of four Airmen at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Co. I have begun work on another show profiling the Denver city Light Rail that will air in October 2010.
My still photography has been recognized by the NPPA, and has appeared in national and international newspapers and publications such as: Yankee Magazine, The Boston Globe, Miami Herald, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Telegram & Gazette, The Union Leader, The Marker, Poland Monthly, Worcester Living Magazine, Portraits Magazine
My video clients include CET (Comcast Entertainment Television) and The Fretboard Journal.
